Compañia Cafetera La Meseta S.A. is carrying out an internal control process to provide a reasonable degree of security in all its operational, administrative, logistic, financial and compliance proceedings.

The purpose is to follow up with the different procedures that are part of the Company’s Management System. For this reason, within our work plan, we have various controls for all areas. We maintain permanent trace to the anomalies and constant supervision to the recommendations and opportunities for improvement.

One of the most complex tasks of the Internal Audit is to make the Company’s employees aware of self-control and self-management to achieve the goals and strengthen the internal control structure. We also evaluated the effectiveness of the proposed activities and managed to align these audit goals with the objectives of our business.

Coffee crops are one of the most important in the country, due to the demand for the product, the history behind it, culturally what it represents, its landscape, and because it possesses one of the most beautiful spectacles of nature: it’s flowering.

Everything has its beginning: during the coffee crop, one of the most beautiful tasks is its sowing. In Compañia Cafetera La Meseta S.A. we strive to carry out a clean and careful process, being rigorous and precise in its evolution. During the collection of the seeds, we look for varieties of low bearing, productive and healthy. Through growth, we seek to provide our crops with the best substrate, using their pulp as organic matter, followed by the best inputs for the healthy development of the tree.

Is a work of high responsibility, since the specimen that we sow must have a life cycle of at least 20 years so that we can offer to Colombia and the world great harvests. There’s no place for mistakes. For that reason, the Agricultural Department of the Company seeks to be at the forefront efficiently and effectively, with technical and technological tools along with high social impact.

Its a team effort where through experience and knowledge we give everything for productivity, reflected in hard work, dedication, and above all, in better social welfare for the people who help us in this day to day labor.

COMPAÑIA CAFETERA LA MESETA S.A. LOGISTICS & EXPORT DEPARTMENT EVOLUTION

I started working in January 2010 in coffee exports. At that time, the Company exported under the name of JORGE HERNAN MUÑOZ CASTAÑO. The same year, it changed its legal name, and I was fortunate to be the first to export under the name of COMPAÑÍA CAFETERA LA MESETA S.A., shipping the quantity of 162,815 70 kg bags of Excelso. My duties were: confirmation of sales, documentary management, and tracing the process in port with our customs agent; and until 3 years, purchasing and managing fique bags and logistics.

From the year 2010 to 2018, exports have increased by approximately 473%, exporting for the year 2018 the quantity of 932,326 70 kg bags of Excelso.

9 years ago, the company had 15 administrative employees, including the owners (6 brothers) as managers, and 35 plant operatives. For the year 2018, the company has the same 6 owners, plus 55 administrative employees, and 155 plant operatives.

Concerning the Logistics and Export Department, is structured the following way:  Executive Director (1), Chief of Exports (1), Export Coordinators (2), Port personnel (1), within Management (1), Assistants (4), and 1 Practitioner, for a total of 11 people.

The owners have always been open-minded and confident to all the changes that bring growth and improvement to the Company and its personnel. I feel pleased and proud to be a member of COMPAÑIA CAFETERA LA MESETA S.A., recognized in Colombia as a leader in the coffee industry, internationally renowned, and for being part of the process and contributing directly to the growth of my second home.
